Mill Creek
Mill Creek, WA is a lovely small community located just 20 miles north of downtown Seattle. The 2010 census population as of 18,244. Mill Creek was originally a planned community built around a golf course and country club as its centerpiece.Based on per capita income, Mill Creek ranks 19th of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked. It is a relatively new city (incorporated in 1983). Originally, it was built around a private golf course (the Mill Creek Country Club) but has been turned into a mixed-use community over the years. The summer weather is warm and dry, with temperatures that never get above 72F.
Neighborhood Amenities
Mill Creek Country Club is the reason the city was created in the first place. In fact, it pre-dates the city’s incorporation by almost a decade. This private club was designed by Ted Robinson, one of the premiere golf course designers of the time. As a private club, only members are allowed to play the links here. More than 23 miles of trails wind their way through the City, including the beautifully scenic North Creek Trail. Nine different parks offer a variety of opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of Mill Creek. Little League and youth soccer teams compete on the artificial turf at the Mill Creek Sports Park. The skate park here is also a popular place for kids to hang out. Nickel Creek Park, Highland Park, Cougar Park and Heron Park are just a few of the other public parks available to the community.
Town Center is the place to be for all your shopping and dining during the week or on the weekend. Whether you are hustling from store to store or simply want to watch the traffic go by while you sip a cup of coffee, I am confident you will be quite content on Main Street.
The Mill Creek Recreation Department offers several classes and programs for all ages to try. These programs range from Preschool Pals to Spanish for Adults. CPR courses are available for first time parents as well as part of the babysitter prep course. Some of the annual events held in Mill Creek throughout the year include an Easter Egg Hunt in the Spring, Trunk or Treat in the Fall and the official Tree Lighting Ceremony in the winter.
