Mukilteo
Mukilteo is a vibrant charming little waterfront community situated along the waters of Possession Sound about 25 miles north of Seattle. Pronounced MUCK-ILL-TEE-OH, this scenic area has views of the Olympic Mountains and Possession Sound to the west and the Northern Cascade Mountains to the north and east. Its ideal location includes access to big city entertainment, shopping, fine dining plus tons of outdoor recreation including hiking, biking, boating, skiing, golfing and the list goes on. Mukilteo was also ranked #10 of the 100 best places to live in America by CNN Money in 2009!
Neighboring Mukilteo, literally 5 minutes away, is the Boeing Company who has played an instrumental role in the Snohomish County economy.
The city of Mukilteo is a great blend of “old” and “new”. There is “Old Town Mukilteo” located near the waterfront. It provides a beautiful setting to do some shopping, stop in to enjoy one of the fine restaurants, enjoy the view and take a 15 minute ferry ride from Mukilteo to Whidbey Island! It is also home to the Sounder train for commuters to and from Seattle.
The “mid-town” area of Mukilteo has an assortment of businesses including retail stores, restaurants, professional offices, hotels, post office and many residences. There is also an elementary and middle school.
Furhter South is the wonderful planned community of Harbour Pointe which is a great blend of residences including single family homes, town homes, condominiums, apartments, professional offices and commercial merchants. In the Harbour Pointe community are some great coffee shops, restaurants, wine bar plus City Hall, the library, local YMCA, police and fire stations plus medical services. Harbour Pointe is also home to the high school, middle school, a couple of elementary schools, pre-schools and several churches. Over 500 acres have been set aside for parks. Miles of trails and sidewalks make it easy to get out and walk, jog or bike. For golf enthusiasts there is also a goregeous golf course (Harbour Pointe Golf Course) and clubhouse/restaurant to enjoy.
Shopping and Dining
Mukilteo enjoys beautiful views of the sound and mountains and access to delicious restaurants in “Old town” including Ivars Mukilteo Landing and Arnies Restaurant to name a few. In “mid-town” Mukilteo there is The Mukileo Lodge & Sports Grille and for Italian there is Amici Bistro. There are other great restaurants in Harbour Pointe from Thai to Mexican fare including and Mukilteo Cafe for classic american fare, just north of Harbour Pointe. There’s also Wine 101 & The Gathering Place in Harbour Point for relaxing, meeting friends and enjoying a glass of wine, appetizer or dessert. There are many other wonderful restaurants throughout the city that you’ll be sure to enjoy!
There are several shopping centers and drug stores, dry cleaners, nail & beauty salons, hardware store and gyms as well. Approximagely 10 minutes away are 2 larger shopping malls (the Alderwood Mall and the Everett Mall) with a variety of stores and restaurants.
Parks and Recreation
Mukilteo has a variety of outdoor recreation including the Lighthouse Park which is home to the historic Lighthouse Station and offers accessible beach, picnic area and a boat launch. There are plenty of areas to walk, bike and hike too. Mukilteo also has many events and traditions that take place all year round. In the spring and summer there is a wonderful Farmers Market, a summer concert series in the park, Taste of Mukilteo and the Lighthouse Festival.
Schools, Health, Transportation
The community of Mukilteo includes access to award winning schools (Mukilteo School District) plus dentists, physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, and two walk in clinics. There are numerous community colleges and universities that are within a short driving distance. For access to domestic and international destinations, the Seattle-Tacoma airport is approximately 39 miles.
